Range Rover has released details, images and video of the Evoque Convertible, which is billed as the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible.
It has a lightweight fabric roof that unfurls in 21 seconds and folds away in 18 seconds, at up to 30mph. When lowered, the roof sits flush with the four-seater’s bodywork and it doesn’t affect the load space.

Land Rover also claims that this fifth member of the Range Rover family is as adept off-road as any other Evoque.
Range Rover is launching high-specification models first, namely the HSE Dynamic and HSE Dynamic LUX, which are available with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines.
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible goes on sale in spring 2016, costing from £47,500 for the TD4 HSE Dynamic.
It also features Jaguar Land Rover’s next-generation entertainment system, with a 10.2in touchscreen.

Roll-over safety comprises two aluminium beams hidden in the rear bodywork which deploy within 90 milliseconds.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's design director, said: “The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is a vehicle for all seasons. Its uniquely distinctive design and world-class engineering adds another dimension to the Range Rover family, further enhancing its desirability and appeal.”
The Evoque Convertible will be produced at Land Rover’s Halewood factory in the UK, alongside the existing three- and five-door models.
