Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) says people calling Martin Amidu incompetent because he resigned from his post as Special Prosecutor want to salvage the damage caused by his actions.

“It is the same Amidu who was independently fighting in court. The same person who secured the judgment against Woyome when he was not a public employee."

"So, why will he get this position and decide he is going to sit down and relax,” Sulemana Braimah said on the AM show on Tuesday.

He stated that with the work the former Special Prosecutor did in terms of corruption it makes no sense for people to accuse him of incompetence when he is only pointing out roadblocks that affected his office.

“What is he looking for? Is it the salary? Is it an office space to work for? Is it that he wants to build a new house, or this is the time that he wants to join the looting that has been associated with our public office holders?” He questioned.

Mr Braimah stated that it is not right to pull the incompetence card when Martin Amidu says he is being hindered from working.

"I think those who say that are just people who want to for one reason or the other do a cover up, or salvage whatever damage that has been caused by Mr Martin's resignation."

The MFWA Executive Director said he believes there is truth to what Martin Amidu spelt out in his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo.

“Anybody who is honest and has integrity will know that Martin Amidu will not lie, for the sake of not being able to perform the job he was given,” he stated.

The Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, resigned from his position three years after he was appointed by President Akufo-Addo.

The former Attorney General wrote to the President Nana Akufo-Addo Monday saying his decision is to enable his appointing authority “to take steps to appoint a replacement to that position as required by law.”

Mr Braimah added "I am happy that Mr Amidu has acted to save his reputation. It takes a lot to build the image, reputation and the integrity he has. It would have been so sad, for him to allow himself to be used for public validation."
