The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has voted $120,000 to implement development plans of three newly created districts in the Central Region.The beneficiary districts, Agona West, Gomoa East and Awutu Senya would each receive $40,000.Mr Emmanuel Baisie, an official of the Ghana ILO project told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Winneba on Wednesday.The project aims at supporting government's effort to reduce poverty especially among people in rural communities.Meanwhile, the ILO has begun a series of workshops designed principally to strengthen and improve economic development plans of districts under its new administrative set-ups.In all, 90 representatives from three districts would be given training on modern economic trends.Opening one of such workshops christened "SWOT Analysis for local economic Development Expansion Districts" at Winneba on Wednesday, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, an ILO International Project Expert, said the focus was on building the entrepreneurial skills of women and the youth.He said, ILO would as a result, build the capacities of the youth and women to enable them open up their own businesses.Dr Thompson said based on the successes chalked under the pilot phase of the project, the organisation has decided to increase the number of districts.He, therefore, advised participants to take the training workshops serious so that they could make good use of the immense knowledge, skills and experiences they would acquired.Dr Thompson reminded participants of the key roles they were expected to play in the socio-economic development of the respective districts after the workshops.Source: GNA/Ghana
