Fast-rising musician, Black Sherif, also known as ‘Blacko’, says sitting at the peak of Nigeria's Apple Music chart is an achievement for him.
Speaking in an interview via Hitz 103.9 FM, he said “For me, topping charts is an achievement,” he told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz.
This comes after Black Sherif earned the No.1 spot on Apple Music in Nigeria and Ghana respectively; and No.76 (global), with his ground-shifting single “Kwaku the Traveller”.
The attainment garnered mixed reaction reactions from music fans on social media, including one from Rufftown Records signee, Kiki Marley, who opined that topping the Apple Music in Nigeria is not an accomplishment to her.
The “Gym” hit-maker averred that the “First Sermon” singer should rather celebrate global chart-topping milestones, instead of that of Nigeria and Audiomack.
Although Black Sherif did not explicitly direct his response to Kiki Marley, he just said topping the charts in other countries in Africa is something to write home about, thus, requires to be acknowledged.
“Kwaku The Traveller”, a song which Blacko describes as a “general message” that addresses the struggles of a trying youth – the challenges and obstacles they face as they embark on their respective journeys of life, continues to shine the spotlight on the young singer in Africa and beyond.
The “Second Sermon” hit-maker added that he aspires to earn the chart-topping milestone on a regular basis, thus, his fans should help him achieve that by streaming his music.
Talking about his wildest dreams, he pointed that the ambition is to have his local dialect-performed songs being played in every single corner of the earth.
“My wildest dreams could be… Like, I want to see my Twi songs being sang across the world,” Blacko said. “Taking my songs out to the world. I just want to hear every part of the world sing my song,” he added.
“I am telling my story in different ways and I would love to see people’s response to my story through my music, performances and stuff,” he continued.
