Minister for Trade and Industry, Haruna Iddrisu on Wednesday, paid a familiarization working visit to Kasapreko Company Limited to acquaint himself with their operations.
This is to afford him the opportunity to know their difficulties and challenges and proffer how best government can also help address them.
The Trade Minister was welcomed by founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kasapreko, Dr. Kwabena Adjei and staff of the company.
Briefing the Minister on the operations of the company, Dr. Kwabena Adjei enumerated the success story of Kasapreko and how the company intends to extend its operations to others parts of the world.
But he bemoaned what he says are the high taxes paid on imported goods and harsh treatment by some officials at the ports.
He further noted that even though the company imports raw materials worth millions of dollars, its core raw materials, 'plant roots', are bought in the country.
Dr. Kwabena Adjei appealed to government for support to help grow local industries in the country.
On his part, Haruna Iddrisu commended the management and staff of Kasapreko for their enormous contributions to the Ghanaian economy.
“I am personally convinced that Kasapreko Company Limited epitomes industrial success, which requires government support”, he intimated.
Additionally, the Trades Minister underscored government preparedness to facilitate a stronger bond and create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive “irrespective of their partisan coloration”.
He therefore promised tax incentives for manufacturing companies like Kasapreko, which uses local materials for production.
Haruna Iddrisu used the opportunity to appeal to other corporate entities to uphold highest ethical standards in their dealings with the state.
