The two people who were arrested at Adaklu Abuadi on Farmers Day for possessing firearms without authority have appeared before a Ho Magistrate Court presided over by Mr. Amedior.
The two, whose pleas were not taken, were Emmanuel Kugbadzor, a palm taper and Mawutor Edey, a hunter. Mr. Joseph Kutu, Ho Municipal Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency that the suspects were granted bail in the sum of 1,000 Ghana cedis (10 million cedis) and a surety each to reappear on December 21.
He said a third person, Fauster Aheator who was arrested with the accused persons was being used as a prosecution witness. Mr. Kutu who led about 100 police personnel to Adaklu-Abuadi to keep law and order during this year's Farmers Day celebration said the three were apprehended when they fired gunshots about 200 metres from the venue of the celebration.
He said two guns and six live ammunitions were found on them. Mr. Kutu said the heavy security presence made up of the police and a few soldiers at the celebration was due to information that some people from the Adaklu Anyigbe District allegedly planned to disrupt the programme.
