It's Match Day 2 of the 2026 Honda Football Championship at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, and the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) have secured their second consecutive victory of the tournament, defeating Tamale Technical University (TaTU) 2-1 in the opening game of the day.
This comes after their Match Day 1 victory over the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), where they won 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
TaTU started the game on the front foot and took the lead early, with Alhassan Fuseini finding the back of the net just 10 minutes into the match.
It was a well-taken goal that gave TaTU the early advantage and set the tone for what would be a competitive and entertaining contest between the two sides.
UBIDS did not take long to respond. Abdulai Zakari stepped up in the 18th minute and equalized for his side, bringing the score line level at 1-1.
His goal shifted the momentum of the game and gave UBIDS the confidence to push forward and look for a winner.
From that point, both teams continued to battle hard in the middle of the park, with neither side willing to give an inch.
The game looked destined for a draw, but UBIDS had other ideas. Nang-Ib Niber-yang Karl had the final say, scoring in the 44th minute of the second half to put UBIDS ahead.
That goal proved to be the difference between the two sides, as UBIDS held on to claim all three points and record their second win of the 2026 Honda Football Championship.
The action does not stop here. Match Day 2 continues with three more exciting fixtures at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) will look to bounce back when they take on the University of Ghana (UG), followed by Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) going head to head with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
Rounding off the day's fixtures, the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) will face the University of Development Studies (UDS).
The 2026 Honda Football Championship continues with more action packed games through the week, with the tournament running until Saturday, 28th March
