University for Development Studies (UDS) and University of Ghana (UG) have been seeded ahead of the official draw for the 2026 Honda Football Championship set to take place on Monday, 23rd March 2026 at 10am at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
UDS will be placed in Group A and UG placed in Group avoiding an early showdown and setting up the possibility of a high-stakes clash in the later stages of the tournament.
The two (2) Technical Universities in the competition, Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) and Tamale Technical University (TTU), will also be drawn separately to ensure they do not end up in the same group.
The four (4) remaining institutions including University of Professional Studies-Accra (UPSA), University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) and University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) will randomly be drawn completing the two (2) groups of four (4) teams each.
After the officially launch and balloting on Monday, March 23, there will be a short opening ceremony on Tuesday 24th March at 9am after which UDS will play the opening game against one of the teams from Group A.
The matches will be played daily from 9am to 5.30pm through to Saturday March 28.
With top teams assembled and the stakes high, the 2026 Honda Football Championship promises to be a thrilling contest, as Ghana’s leading universities battle for bragging rights and national supremacy.
