The Wa campus of the University for Development Studies has initiated moves to solve the problem of inadequate facilities. Last academic year, students were compelled to write exams under canopies using slabs as tables. Speaking at its 9th week celebration, the President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Justice Yaw Adua said the problem will be solved soon. Upper West Regional correspondent Rafik Salam reports that the SRC President highlighted the lack of residential facilities in the university which exposed students to exploitation by landlords. “The cost of rent is undoubtedly unbearable to students and lecturers alike,” he said and appealed to the president to as a matter of urgency intervene to ameliorate the situation. The SRC President said about three billion worth of furniture were being procured for the UDS to prevent last semester's situation where students wrote exams on plastic chairs.
