The Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board Akrasi Sarpong is daring leaders of the University Students Association to proceed to court over controversial comments he made. Sarpong in an interview regretted the use of tertiary students as drug couriers by the barons. He alleged the barons too often sponsor the students for vacation trips outside the country, mostly to the US and Europe. The students found the comments offensive and dared the NACOB Boss to produce evidence. The President of the University Students Association Kingsley Baffoe demanded an apology from the NACOB boss or he would proceed to court. But Akrasi Sarpong has called his bluff. He is neither apologetic nor ready to provide evidence for his allegations. He told Joy News he is not the least perturbed by the students’ threats to go to court. “Are they (students) a special group of people,” he quizzed, insisting he is not under any obligation to provide any evidence for his allegations. He vowed to meet the students in court, if they so pleased.
