Olympic legend Usain Bolt has reiterated his desire to move into football once his athletics career is over.
The Jamaican two time Olympic champion and world record holder at 100m and 200m is a famous Manchester United supporter, previously claiming he wanted a trial at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson even suggested Bolt could play for his side in a charity match against Real Madrid legends next year, as he had been to the training complex at Carrington to help Cristiano Ronaldo with sprinting while the Portuguese superstar was still at United.
Bolt’s intention to try a career in football was treated almost jokingly, but he remained serious about the ambition when answering questions at a press conference recently.
“I want to try football; at the end of my career it would be something I would love to try because I think I'd be good at it,” he is quoted as saying by Reuters.
“I've played charity matches in Jamaica and I've done well. I think it's something I'd like to try definitely.”
Bolt has visited Old Trafford on a number of occasions and received a signed shirt with ‘Bolt 9.58’ printed on the back.
Speaking to the crowd at halt-time of Manchester United’s victory over Fulham last season, Bolt told the Old Trafford crowd to try and persuade Ferguson to sign him.
While this was not exactly a serious request, it seems Bolt is not ready to change course and is determined to try his hand at the beautiful game.
