Former Black Stars coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, believes the Winn over Trinidad and Tobago could have a positive impact on the senior national team.
Ghana beat Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff game at the 2025 Unity Cup in London last weekend with a 4-0 score.
The victory came after their semifinal loss to West African rivals Nigeria in their opening game of the tournament.
Speaking about the performance of the team, Akonnor was optimistic the win could lift the morale of the players.
“The victory against Trinidad and Tobago was good enough to lift their confidence ahead of any competitive match,” he told Graphic Sports.
“Potentially, the young players have good talent. In some time to come, this generation will fade and it will give the coach an opportunity for replacement.”
Ghana’s next assignment is in September when the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers resume.
