The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has assured residents that the Juapong Textiles Limited (JTL), once a vibrant industrial hub in Ghana, will soon be revived.
Speaking at the official launch of the 7th Edition of the Volta Trade and Investment Fair held in Juapong, under the theme “Volta Rising: Building Global Partnership for a Thriving 24-hour Economy”, Mr. Gunu likened the current state of the factory to “a dry bone” but expressed optimism about its restoration.
“Juapong Textile is now a dry bone, but it will come back to life,” he said, stressing that renewed government commitment and strategic interventions will restore the factory to its former glory as part of efforts to stimulate industrial growth and create sustainable jobs in the Volta Region.
He highlighted the historical importance of JTL in providing employment opportunities and supporting the local economy, noting that its collapse dealt a heavy blow to Juapong and surrounding communities.

According to the Minister, the revival of the company will not only provide jobs for the youth but also contribute significantly to Ghana’s industrialization agenda.

He further urged stakeholders, including traditional leaders, investors, and workers, to remain hopeful and supportive as the government works to rejuvenate the textile industry in the region.
Once fully revived, JTL is expected to boost the local economy, enhance value addition in the textile sector, and promote the “Made-in-Ghana” brand both locally and internationally.
