The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has assured residents of a peaceful and crime-free Yuletide, urging the public to celebrate Christmas and the New Year in moderation.
He said enhanced security measures would not end with the festive season but would be sustained into the coming year to boost investor confidence in the region, which holds strong potential in agribusiness, tourism, and industry.
Mr Gunu gave the assurance after a Joint Security Services Route March through the principal streets of Ho.
The annual exercise brought together personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Customs, Immigration, Prisons Service, and the Ghana National Fire Service.
Led by Mr Gunu, the officers marched for about six kilometres through the streets of Ho, chanting patriotic and motivational songs.
The route march was aimed at demonstrating the readiness of the security services to combat crime, ensure public safety, and strengthen civilian-military relations.

Mr Gunu, who is also Chairman of the Volta Regional Security Council, expressed confidence in the professionalism and preparedness of the security agencies to maintain peace during the festive season and beyond.
“The level of professionalism that you attach to your work actually gave us hope that this Christmas and the New Year celebration is going to be crime-free for the Volta Region.
“And so we are together, let us maintain the peace and security of this our region. It is only through that that we can implement all the flagship programmes that we have and development initiatives, and we believe that we are going to achieve greater things in the years to come,” he said.
