A rainstorm that hit parts of the Western Region on Tuesday night killed a Fifty-three year old woman and her two grandchildren at Egyam in the Ahanta West District of the West Region.
The downpour, which lasted for several hours also ripped off the roofs of about 25 houses in the community and caused flooding in some parts of the region, including the capital Sekondi-Takoradi.
The three were killed instantly when parts of their single room built with mud collapsed on them as the rains came with thick storm.
About 25 other houses mostly made of mud in the coastal community, also had their roofs ripped off with one person sustaining injuries.
An eyewitness, Godfred Yankey, who is a unit Committee member, told Maxx News that at about 4:30am on Wednesday, some community members were awoken by shouts which drew their attention to the collapsed mud house.
He said the bodies of the victims were retrieved from the collapsed building by some young men in the community.
