Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah, has cautioned the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation that stakeholders may resort to legal action if congress is not allowed to endorse the newly appointed Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (IMC).
On Monday, September 29, 2025, Sports Minister Kofi Adams officially inaugurated the IMC to oversee all professional boxing activities and spearheading key reforms.
These include the implementation of comprehensive medical protocols, the establishment of a Medical Commission, and enhanced doping controls in partnership with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).
However, Ntiamoah insists that the IMC must first receive approval from congress before assuming its mandate.
“The IMC taking on the mandate of running professional boxing in Ghana is inconsistent with the GBA constitution. If the authority does not listen to us, we may go to court. We are not really against the body, but rather the way and manner in which it was done.
"If they could rectify things and sit with us, then we can go to congress for congress to endorse these people (IMC). That way, it is clear that congress has the power to bring people on board to manage the Ghana Boxing Authority,” he told JoySports.
