Management of the music duo, Lali & Lola has accused the organisers of AfroFuture's competition of not giving them the prize and recognition as was announced prior to the annual art competition.

The competition, which attracts artists from all over the world, is known for its high standards and fierce competition.

This year's event was no exception, with an impressive array of paintings, sculptures, and installations on display.

The event has become an important platform for emerging artists to showcase their talent and gain recognition in the music world.

In a surprising turn of events, the first and second runner-ups of the highly competitive Top Rising Stars competition were not awarded any prize, despite their impressive performance and skilful craftsmanship.

The competition, which drew participants from all over Africa, was judged by a panel of experts in the field of music.

Bleau, Lali & Lola and Armah Best were the final three selected Afrochella 2022 Top Rising Star Artists competing for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes on offer, having impressed the judges with their unique craftsmanship.

They were ushered to the side of the stage to be announced as winners but were left hanging and disappointed.

The winner Bleau was announced however the second and third positions were noticeably absent. This decision caused some confusion and disappointment among the attendees, who had been eagerly anticipating the announcement.

Lali & Lola with their manager in an interview with Doreen Andoh on the cosmopolitan mix show, said "the AfroFuture organisers mention to us that we were the last three standing and we were going to be announced on stage but that didn't happen then and hasn’t happened till date."

"We don’t even know if we were second or third but we were the last three called to the side of the stage to await the announcement of the top three out of over 600 competitors," the duo noted.

Despite the disappointment of not receiving a prize and recognition, the runner-ups have vowed to continue pursuing their passion, they remain hopeful for future opportunities to share their craft with the world.

They are scheduled to release their new single “Explora” on April 5.
