The Ghana Physiotherapy Association (GPA) has encouraged the public to wear masks, when visiting healthcare facilities across the country.
According to the Association, caregivers and family relations who accompany patients to their therapy sessions are not exempt from this.
In announcing the lifting of the three-week lockdown in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi on Sunday, President Nana Akufo-Addo reiterated that, the wearing of masks has been adopted among other measures, to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Ghana.
Some Ghanaians complied while others remain recalcitrant as far as the enforcement is concerned.
In a release signed by General Secretary of the Ghana Physiotherapy Association, Dr Paul Amankonah also explained that, “therapists are to be in facial mask when giving you care. Should your Therapist not be in his/her mask, you may politely ask them why they are not in one.”
The Association also advised all to stay active “since physical activity has been shown to be an invaluable tool in this fight.”
The April 21, statement also called on the public to adhere to the safety protocols such as regular handwashing and observance of social distancing as advised by the World Health Organisation.
Ghana currently has 1, 042 cases of the novel coronavirus with 9 deaths and 99 recoveries.
