A 25- year-old Driver, Paul Amoanu Johnson was on Tuesday remanded into prison custody by a Takoradi Circuit Court for allegedly gouging out the eye of a 27 year old trader.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault.
Giving the facts of the case, Inspector Seth Ahelegbe, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Nimako that on January 6, the accused met the victim at Vienna City night Club in Takoradi where he worked as an errand boy.
He said while the victim was awaiting the arrival of his Italian fiancée, the accused appeared on the scene and convinced her to move with another man at the club.
The prosecutor said a misunderstanding ensued between the two parties which resulted in severe beating of the victim by the accused who again used his car key to gouge out one eye of the victim.
