The African Co-ordinator of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, Nana Oye Lithur is asking the Ghana Education Service (GES) to release its report on investigations into the vaginal search conducted on teacher trainees at the St. Louis Training College in Kumasi.
It will be recalled that some two months ago authorities at the college were reported to have conducted the search on the students to ascertain whether a student had committed an abortion after a blood soaked sanitary pad was found on the College's compound.
Some students who spoke to the media said they were stripped naked as the authorities searched them one-by-one. But the school authorities have denied the claims, saying whatever action they took was in the interest of the students and subsequently apologised to them.
The GES then set up a committee to investigate the claims but almost a month after the committee completed its work, the findings are yet to be made public.
Nana Oye Lithur said it is important to release the report for Ghanaians to know the truth of the matter to forestall future occurrence.
