The World Vision Ghana has donated sanitary items worth ₵97,902 to some selected districts where the organization operates in the Northern Region.

The items which includes, 750 pieces of hand washing equipment and 750 gallons of liquid soap was distributed amongst Gushegu, Savelugu, Saboba,  kassena, Bawku, Jirapa, Asutifi north, and Kintampo clusters.

The Regional Operational Manager, Timothy Akanpabadai said the gesture is to support government’s effort to combat the novel coronavirus in the country.

He revealed that the organisation has spent close to $650,000 on the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to support the Health Ministry, the Christian Health Association of Ghana and Districts Assemblies.

World Vision International is a worldwide Christian humanitarian, advocacy and development organization, dedicated to working to transform the lives of children, families and communities, especially the most vulnerable, to enable them attain the fullest of life.

Speaking on the impact of the virus, Mr Akanpabadai said Covid 19 will gravely affect the poor and vulnerable.

Therefore, will have dialogue with relevant stakeholders to support in the best way they can to reduce the effect on the vulnerable.

He further urged the general public to fight stigmatisation that is contributing to the rapid spread of the virus.

Receiving the donation on behalf of beneficiaries, A representative from the Northern Regional Coordination Council Environmental Health and Sanitation Department expressed his gratitude for the gesture.

Anchaba Faustinos also urged the public and institutions to monitor veronica buckets at their offices and place of work to  ensure water is available at all times for people to use, adding that hand washing basins should be emptied regularly at all times.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Savelugu Hajia Ayishetu Seidu said the donation has come at the right time that the world is doing everything possible to make the pandemic a thing of the past

She urged the general public to keep observing the precautionary measures put in place by government and health authorities to contain the spread of the virus.
