Programmes instituted by World Vision Ghana in the Nkwanta South and Kadjebi Area have supported over 6000 school children with stationery as schools reopen after 9 months of closure due to Covid-19.
Some 42 community schools in Kadjebi and Nkwanta South have received school bags, exercise books, branded T-shirts among others to encourage students to go back to school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Project Officer (Education and Life Skills), World Vision Ghana, Krachi-Nkwanta Cluster, Kennedy Amponsah-Cheremeh said the organisation deemed it fit to step in to support children who for reasons beyond their control may find it difficult to go back to school.
“We anticipated some of our children may have found other alternatives to life such as going to farm, petty trading. Some may not return to school because of their newfound livelihoods. We are also witnessing cases of abuse.

“We thought it wise to encourage them to go back to school by coming up with this campaign in collaboration with Ghana Education Service. This is to let the children and parents know that schools have reopen, the children are safe and they should go back to school,” he stated.
Student, Karim Rabiatu who spoke on behalf of her mates expressed their appreciation to World Vision Ghana for the immense support.

The organisation spent a total of GH¢56,499.60 in procuring 14,172 pieces of branded exercise books, 550 pencils, 500 school bags, 5,000 wall charts and 1,131 branded T-shirts.
Also, World Vision Ghana has supported selected communities in its area programmes with school infrastructure, teacher training and retraining programmes, teaching, learning and recreational materials.

The organisation has also supported in the provision of water and sanitation facilities over the years.
In addressing matters of Covid-19, Kennedy Amponsah-Cheremeh indicated that training workshops have been set up to educate the students on the need and how to follow the Covid-19 safety protocols.
“We will continue the partnership with the Ghana Education Service to further sensitise the children as they go back to school so that all the protocols would be observed for the children, teachers and parents to be safe,” he added.
The Nkwanta South Municipal Director for Education, Jonathan Korsinah said all one hundred and ten schools in the municipality are ready to resume.

He noted that all schools have been fumigated and sensitisation programmes held with parents on the need to allow and encourage their wards to get back to school.
Mr Jonathan Korsinah gave the assurance that the teachers would do their best to ensure all children are safe from Covid-19 infection.
