In a jubilant celebration that brought together devotees from far and wide, worshipers of the revered Afetorku Gbordzi shrine in Dagbamatey in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region, marked their annual festival in a grand spectacle.
The sprawling chapel-like shrine, dedicated to the deity Torgbui Afetorku Gbordzi, became a center of spiritual fervor and cultural unity as people gathered to give thanks and seek blessings.

The festival, a cornerstone of the community's calendar, drew devotees from the Volta region and distant corners of the world. Some traveled from across continents, united by their faith in the ancient deity and the traditions of the Dagbamatey people.

Celebrating Traditions and Unity
Dagbamatey, nestled in the heart of the Akatsi South District, came alive with vibrant colours, rhythmic drumbeats, and joyous chants as the festival unfolded. The faithful adorned in traditional attire, with intricate patterns and symbols reflecting the rich history of their beliefs, filled the expansive shrine grounds.

"This festival is not just a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of our cultural heritage and spiritual roots," remarked, the Chief Priest and leader of the shrine, Ngorgbea Kofi Davor, who has been attending the festival for decades. "We come together to honour Afetorku Gbordzi, to express our gratitude, and to seek blessings for the year ahead."

The shrine, meticulously adorned with symbolic artifacts and offerings, stood as a testament to the enduring reverence for Torgbui Afetorku Gbordzi. Worshipers engaged in ancient rituals inside its sacred walls, offering prayers for prosperity, health, and harmony.
Global Gathering of Faithful
What made this year's celebration particularly remarkable was the diverse tapestry of devotees who journeyed to Dagbamatey. Visitors from countries as far as the United States, Brazil, India, and beyond joined hands with the local community, embracing the traditions and spirit of the festival.

"I have traveled thousands of miles to be here, drawn by the stories of Afetorku Gbordzi and the deep connection felt by those who worship here," said Maria Silva, a visitor from one of the countries. "To witness this celebration firsthand is an honour beyond words."
The festival also served as a platform for cultural exchange, with visitors immersing themselves in traditional dances, songs, and culinary delights of the Dagbamatey region. It was a vibrant tapestry of global unity, woven together by the threads of faith and shared celebration.
