The NDC Communicator who courted public anger for pouring insults on the women behind the #Dumsormuststop vigil has revealed he was criticised and applauded in equal measure by the president.
Alhaji Halidu Haruna read a whatsapp message he received from the president in the heat of the criticism.
"You went over the top. Always be sensitive about issues that deal with gender especially women issues. But it was courageous of you to take down the post and apologise," he reported the president as saying.
Haruna in a facebook message had referred to Yvonne Nelson, Lydia Forson, two of the celebrities championing the Dumsormuststop campaign as prostitutes.
His post received widespread condemnation from the public.
The NDC Communicator immediately issued an unqualified apology to the two women for his comments.
Commenting on the incident on Joy FM's Ghana Connect programme, Friday, Alhaji Halidu Haruna for the umpteenth time apologised for his comments.
He said his comments were irresponsible and he felt ashamed by them. He had since crashed two of his cars because he was not in the right state of mind.
He said he called one of the ladies- Lydia Forson- to apologise to her and the way she responded made him feel even more guilty.
He dismissed assertions the president had turned a blind eye on the insulting comments he made.
He said but for the fact that he showed genuine remorse and apologised he would probably have been sacked from the NDC's communications team.
