In an act that could only be described as a pride for his African roots, rapper Black Sherif has thrown a special invite to African-Americans to return home to the motherland.
In a touching speech after winning the Best International Flow at BET Hip Hop Awards 2023, the Kwaku The Traveller hitmaker talked about his small beginnings at Konongo Zongo and how despite where he began, was still very confident that his music would go global one day.
But the highlight of his speech, which has now gone viral, was how he confidently asked the audience, who were predominantly blacks to reconnect with their African roots.
“And don’t forget, remember you are kings and queens back home. Come back home,” Black Sherif said.
The reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year emphasised the profound sense of unity and belonging that awaits those who choose to return to their motherland.
He noted that Ghana was known for its vibrant culture, historical significance, and warm hospitality and going back home would offer them a wealth of experiences of the culture.
In addition to his message to the diaspora, Black Sherif took a moment to express his deep gratitude to his family, team and loyal fans across the world for their immense support over the years.

He recognised that their support played a pivotal role in making his dream of winning the Best International Flow award at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2023 a reality.
Black Sherif isn't new to the BET stage. Last year, he was also nominated for "Best International Flow," but didn't win.
He, however, came back stronger this year beating tough competition from the likes of Aka (South Africa), Central Cee (UK), Gazo (France), J Hus (UK), K.O (South Africa), Major Rd (Brazil), Ninho (France), Sampa The Great (Zambia) and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).
