The Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Socrate Sarfo, has said contrary to speculations that some movie stars the association sidelined last year have been pardoned, the sanction still holds. Three movie stars, Yvonne Nelson, Ekow Smith Asante and Kofi Adjorlolo were sidelined by the Film Regulatory body for various ‘offences’ the body said they had committed. Socrate who was speaking in an interview with Hitz Entertainment News said the sidelining is still in place and the three movie personalities will not be used by any member of their film producing body until the ban is served and consumated. “We said we have sidelined them and there is no law that forces us to use them. If you are not a member, you can choose to make a film and use them but if you are a member of the Film Regulatory Council (FRC), then we said that we are not working with them but if you are not a member, you can go ahead and use them,” he said. He added, “But our distributors will not distribute that film; our marketers will not market that film, our retailers will not retail that film. We don’t have anything against them, they can act anywhere but our members have decided not to work with them for this period.” Socrate who refused to call the action a ban said Yvonne Nelson has been sidelined for 12 months; Ekow Smith Asante and Kofi Adjorlolo have both been sidelined for 24 months respectively.
