Seven cyclists in the ongoing 2013 Cowbell Bike Tour have been expelled for poor performance.
The performance of the seven has been deemed to be below the standard of the competition.
The expulsion comes at a time when the contest for the Yellow Jersey (Ultimate Prize) has intensified.
After a review of the performance of the cyclists thus far, by the technical officials, led by Shaaban Mohammed, it came to light that the seven Riders could not successfully end some of the stages, after the first four stages.
The expelled riders are; Abubakari Amadu (River Park -Kumasi), Obimpeh Godsway (Volta Stars -Ho), Richard O. Nartey (Volta Stars- Ho), Walid Mohammed (Volta Stars-Ho).
The rest are Agyekum A. Kojo (Gutten- Accra), Joshua Parker Allotey (Gutten -Accra), John Ofori (Gutten- Accra).
Stage 5 of the competition which comes on Saturday, June 1 involves a 100km criterium race (short cycling race around a closed circuit) within Tamale Metropolis, which favours Samuel Anim and the Yellow Jersey (Isaac Sackey) to maintain a strong hold on their priceless asset (Yellow Jersey), barring any mishap.
