Telecommunications giant, Tigo Ghana, over the weekend received three enviable awards at this year’s Ghana Telecom Awards (GTA).
The three included Mobile Money Service of the year an award keenly followed and coveted by players in the telecoms and financial services industry.
The product has become a key contributor in the fast growing mobile money sector of Ghana’s economy with providers relying heavily on mobile penetration to enhance the reach and effectiveness of their service.
The Telecommunications Awards which began in 2011 celebrates and recognizes the enormous contributions and achievements made by service providers and individuals in the Ghanaian telecom sector.
This year’s event held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel had almost all the nation’s telecom providers and agencies keenly contesting the various categories setup.
In all Tigo received awards for Best Marketing Campaign of the Year (Tigo Cash), Best Mobile Money Service of the Year (Tigo Cash) and Best Use of Social Media Marketing Campaign of the Year.
According to the Tenu Awoonor, Head of Marketing, “Tigo is delighted to have won these awards. We owe it to each and every one of our employees, subscribers and suppliers. Without their support and patronage, we wouldn’t have come this far.
“At Tigo we don’t just come up with products and services because of competition, but we identify the needs of our subscribers and provide the best solutions.”
He also reiterated that Tigo would continue to provide the best service and innovative products to its subscribers as well as utilize consumer insights and new communication channels consumers are comfortable with.
