The maiden edition of the Youth Tennis League was launched Saturday 18 February at the Sakumono Tennis Club. A total number of 50 children made up of 36 boys and 14 girls participated in the league.
participants, were chosen based on their performances at their various clubs and placed in 5 categories – Under-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 to play in a round robin matches, after the matches Isaac Akuoku and John won the group the Boys 8 and under and in the Girl’s 8 and under Doris Adzokatss and Joana Bawa also won.
In the Boy’s and Girl’s 10 and under category Joseph Anakpa, Justice Stewall and Emmanuel Aidoo were winners. Amos Asante, Michelin Nemega and Komashe won for the boy’s and girl’s 12 and under.

The Boys and Girls under 14 events, Kenneth Addokatse received a lot at applause after topping his group with doubles his partner Michael Dodo also winning his group. LawrenciaMainoo also won the girls 14 and under. Louise Nyaaba was judge the winner in the Boys 16 and under.
Speaking to the CEO of Bejfrieght logistics Mr. Biney he said “am ready to sponsor Juvenile tennis because of the kind of tennis these young kids have displayed” He added that BajFrieght Logistics feels it now time to focus on developing juvenile tennis after sponsoring hockey Association for 3years.
Chairman of the Organizing committee Mr. Stephens Kojo also said “am surprised about the turn out and the skills showcase by the young once”.

Mr. Stephens praised the official for professionalism shown and added that the second league of the Youth Tennis League will take place in Tema GHACEM Tennis Club.
