The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, says Chris Hughton is working behind the scenes to settle on his first Black Stars call-ups ahead of the doubleheader against Angola later this month.
Ghana will play Angola twice in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with the first leg set for March 23 at the Baba Yara Stadium while the return leg takes place four days later.
Hughton, who was named the new gaffer of the senior national team after the resignation of Otto Addo is yet to touchdown in Ghana as Ghanaians await the invited players for this month's games.
However, Harrison Addo says the former Newcastle United and Brighton manager is working tirelessly on the squad.
“We had a 4-man team which Chris was part of so he is not new to us. He is now head of the team and this allows us to get some continuity. We had planned to do the unveiling but he lost his father recently so he was unable to travel. Though he is still preparing, he has not come [back]," he told Citi Sports.
“He is working towards the deadlines involved with call-ups. Yes, our match is on the 23rd and he is working towards that. National team coaches are always working, even when they aren’t with the team but they are constantly liaising with the players and giving them instructions.”
Ghana sit top of Group E with two games played so far having taken four points while Angola also boast the same points.
