Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2023 African Games, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, has called on Ghanaians to be ambassadors of the event scheduled to be staged in Ghana early next year.
“The Africa Games [ we are hosting next year] is for all of us," Dr Ofosu-Asare noted during the LOC's carnival in Takoradi.
He has, therefore, admonished his country men and women to publicise the competition to the rest of the world.
"We should all help in hosting the games."
Since winning the bid in August 2018 host the games, the LOC, led by Dr Ofosu-Asare, has been on a campaign to create awareness and interest in the multi-sport competition.
It has organised floats in Accra where thousands of Ghanaians patronised, and continued to the Takoradi, the hub of Christmas celebrations where there was a carnival.
The LOC Chairman did not miss out on the opportunity to remind Ghanaians to advantage of the opportunities the tournament offers for social and economic progress.
“We have to organise ourselves very well and take advantage of the opportunities that comes with events like the African Games.
"We should be good ambassadors," he urged.
"Those in businesses should position themselves well to take advantage of the Africa Games," he added.
The African Games 2023, scheduled to start on March 8, 2024, is the 13th edition of the event which has over 25 sporting disciplines participating.
