Joy News' Northern regional correspondent, Hashmin Mohammed, reports that residents of Gbalahi in the Tamale metropolis, where the incident happened, were so horrified by the incident that they apprehended Yakubu Osman and tied him to a tree while awaiting Police arrival to hand him over.
But as at the time of filing the report, Police have still not arrived.
Yakubu is alleged to have warned previously that he will take someone's life in the community but nobody took him serious.Nobody knows why Yakubu Osman took the life of his step-mother.
Eye-witnesses said they heard the cry of Azaratu Osman, the deceased, coming from the compound house where she lived but when they got to the scene, they saw Yakubu hitting her step-mother repeatedly on the forehead with a farming equipment.
In line with Islamic traditions, Hashmin Mohammed said the body of deceased was being prepared for burial as at the time of filing his report.
