All is set for the second edition of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Insurance Excellence Awards ceremony to be held this Saturday, July 23, 2022.
The event comes off at the plush Labadi Beach Hotel following the successful maiden edition held in November 2020.
The prestigious award ceremony that recognises individuals and organisations that have excelled in the practice of insurance over the period also recognises other stakeholders such as journalists who have excelled in their reportage on insurance and sensitization of the masses.
The chairperson of the CIIG Awards Committee who is also a past Commissioner of Insurance, Miss Lydia Lariba Bawa, has been instrumental in the sustenance of the Awards which has come to stay.
At the maiden edition, she noted that the insurance industry for some time now “had been yearning for a credible award scheme” as she gave credit to the immediate past President of the CIIG, Bishop Asante Marfo-Ahenkora and other Council Members for instituting the respectable awards scheme.
The second edition of the awards which is happening under the tenure of the current President, Mr. Tawiah Ben-Ahmed with the theme: ‘Celebrating excellence in Ghana’s insurance industry’, it is evident that the insurance industry has put its best foot forward in the march to boost the public’s trust and confidence in insurance.

At the end of the event, individuals and organisations would be recognised for the professionalism demonstrated in their noted fields; as the sole purpose is to promote excellence in insurance professionals by celebrating best practices in Ghana’s insurance industry.
The winners of the various awards categories will be determined using various clearly laid out and publicized criteria with consideration to issues such as professional conduct, leadership skills, contribution to the industry, quantitative criteria, among others. The whole process is done with the guidance and supervision of KPMG, to ensure transparency and fairness.
Some of the individual awards which will be given include - Young Insurance professional of the year, Professional Underwriter of the year, Claims Professional of the year and Insurance Professional of the year.
The corporate categories to be awarded include insurance companies, reinsurance companies, broking companies of the year, product(s) of the year and I.T. Innovative company of the year..
Other significant awards categories are insurance reporter of the year and insurance media house of the year.
This year’s awards ceremony is being supported by the National Insurance Commission (NIC), the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG), the Ghana Insurance College (GIC), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana (CILAG) as well as several other insurance companies and brokers.
