The second edition of the Multi TV Habitat Fair has opened at the National Theatre here in Accra. The three-day Fair, organised by Multi TV is a one-stop shop aimed at providing solutions to problems in the housing sector.Ghana is estimated to have a housing deficit of about 1 million and this figure is likely to double within a decade if measures are not taken to address the situation.Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Habitat Fair in Accra on Friday, the Sales and Marketing Manager of Multi TV, McBen Adu-Asamoah explained that the fair was born out of the realisation of the “various challenges facing prospective homeowners ranging from financing, land acquisition, building and getting it right from the start.”These concerns he said, prompted Multi TV to come up with an idea of creating a platform to bring all stakeholders in the housing sector together to interact amongst themselves as well as to provide solutions to the challenges in the sector and “demystify the myth around owning a house.”According to him, “the fair will provide greater opportunities for Home Financing Firms, Developers, building consultants, furnishing and other professionals in the industry and the general public to get answers to their nagging questions about housing, spark imaginations and to shop around for their dream homes.”The Fair, he noted will also “provide opportunities for the various exhibitors and service providers to network and make arrangements to transact business at and even beyond the fair.”Over 60 exhibitors ranging from home financing firms, developers, building consultants to furnishers are taking part in the Habitat fair which ends on Sunday. The first edition of the Multi TV Habitat Fair, held last year was a resounding success with over 40 exhibitors prospecting over 5,000 visitors in a relatively smaller location over a period of three days. The Multi TV Habitat Fair is organised in partnership with HFC Bank and sponsored by Noble Realty, Interface Limited and Nowak Limited representatives of Kingspan Izopoli.
