Three of a seven-member armed robbery gang, including a 14-year-old juvenile on the Police wanted list in Buipe and Kintampo have been arrested by a highway patrol team in the Central District of Savannah Region.

Police source in Buipe said the four other suspects who escaped from the scene and are on the run were also arrested and made to face the law.

The suspects who were arrested by the Buipe Highway Police patrol team, with the assistance of a local watchdog group, include Mahama Jabi, 38, and Adama Sule, 27, as well as the juvenile.

A source at Buipe told JoyNews that the suspects are among four others on the Police wanted list for allegedly molesting commuters and robbing them of their valuables around Kadelso and Portor both suburbs of Kintampo Municipality.

The Central Gonja Police Command said their efforts of mounting surveillance on the Kintampo-Buipe-Tamale highway to curb robbery activities have yielded good results.

Some of the victims who identified the suspects narrated their ordeals to JoyNews.

"I have suffered twice from these robbers hands. First, we saw a boy lying in the middle of the road, and the moment our driver slowed down, five men rushed out from the bush with guns and cutlasses.

"They ordered that we hand over everything, and that was it. My money and phones were gone," she said.

Owusu Acheampong, a livestock trader, said, "the Police have done well this time around because these guys have been disturbing us since October 2021 and taking what does not belong to them," he stated.

The three suspects are currently in Police custody at Buipe assisting in investigations.
