Nana Boakye Yiadom, a 42-year old man, has appeared before the Tema Circuit Court for defrauding a restaurant operator.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded into prison till October 19.
Police Chief Inspector Abraham Marteyfio told the court presided over by Mrs Justice Laurenda Owusu, that Yiadom and the complainant are residents of Lashibi.
He said in April 2009, the accused approached the complainant and promised to get her an auctioned car from the Tema Port at a much reduced price.
He said Yiadom was then given GH¢20,000 with the promise to deliver the car within three weeks.
Chief Inspector Marteyfio said Yiadom failed to deliver the car at the appointed time and as all efforts to retrieve the money also proved futile, he was arrested by the police and granted a bail with one surety.
He said Yiadom then jumped bail and disappeared from the community whiles his surety, one Bismark, was arrested and detained for three months.
Yiadom who was later arrested pleaded with the court to give him time to raise the money and pay the complainant.
