The Philanthropy New-Year School has created a platform for non-governmental organizations (NGOs), founders, philanthropic actors, and civil society organisations (CSOs) to receive requisite training and technical expertise.
This hands-on workshop is designed to bridge the gap between passion and practical skills, equipping participants with the necessary tools to strengthen their organizations and enhance their impact.

By learning from seasoned experts, policymakers, and sector leaders, participants gained insights into resource mobilisation, financial accountability, governance, and sustainability in philanthropy. The 4th Philanthropy New-Year School 2025 aimed to build the capacity of NGOs by developing their staff, improving organisational effectiveness, and empowering them to better serve their communities.
Held from January 20 to 29, 2025, across multiple locations in Tamale, Kumasi, Cape Coast, and Accra, this year’s event provided a transformative learning experience. Topics covered included Financial Sustainability, Regulatory Compliance, Institutional Strengthening for Philanthropy, Grant Proposal Writing, Branding and Visibility for Donor Engagement.

The two-day finale in Accra, hosted at the University of Ghana Business School, featured high-level discussions with sector leaders, government regulators, and financial experts. A standout session focused on risk mitigation and knowledge gaps among civil society actors, led by representatives from the Registrar of Companies, the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC), and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Beyond the event, the Philanthropy New-Year School remains committed to supporting NGOs, CSOs, and philanthropic actors through post-event resources and virtual learning opportunities. Participants are encouraged to implement key strategies, engage in peer networking, and continuously build their capacities.
As NGOs and CSOs navigate an evolving landscape, initiatives like the 4th Philanthropy New-Year School 2025 provide crucial knowledge, practical tools, and meaningful connections to drive sustainable impact in Ghana’s philanthropic and civil society sectors.
