About five presidential candidates have submitted their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission head office in Accra, Thursday.
A host of parliamentary aspirants hve also flooded the district offices of the EC to submit same ahead of the submission deadline on Friday September 30, 2016.

The presidential candidates are the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the All People’s Congress’ Hassan Ayariga and the United Progressive Party’s Akwasi Addae Odike.
President John Mahama is expected to submit his form later today.

The rest are Agyenim Boateng, United Front Party and Kofi Akpaloo who is standing as an independent candidate.
Joy News correspondents across the country are sending information about parliamentary aspirants who have also submitted their forms.

So far,NDC incumbent MPs, Okudzeto Ablakwa, North Tongu; Alban Bagbin, Nadwoli Kaleo Alban Bagbin, Gabby Alexander Hotordze, Central Tongu have all filed their forms at their various regions.
The NPP's candidate for North Tongu, Richard Collins Arku has also submitted his form.
The presidential and parliamentary aspirants are expected to present their nomination forms to the EC today Thursday September 29, 2016.
This forms a final stage in determining their eligibility to contest the elections.
Sixteen political party presidential aspirants and seven independent candidates have picked up nomination forms and are expected to file them by the close of Friday.

However, a Ȼ50,000 filing fee for presidential aspirants and Ȼ10,000 for parliamentary candidates is causing dissatisfaction among some candidates.
They have moved to prevent the EC from charging the fees.
The revised figures represent a 500 percent increase over what candidates paid in the 2012 elections. Some aspirants say they will not be able to raise the required money, which they describe as exorbitant.
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has as sued the EC and government through the Attorney-General over the filing fees.
The party is among other things seeking a declaration that “the filing fees are arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable”.
The EC is however not accepting the filling fees due to the suit.
