A 55-year-old father Larry Otoo will have his 25-year-old Golf salon car completely overhauled for winning Joy FM’s Pimp Dad’s Car promotion.
The promotion was run to commemorate this year’s Fathers’ Day.
Larry’s story was selected from among hundreds of entries submitted during the promotion.
The story sent by his son Orleans read as follow:
“I am Orleans Otoo; I come from a family of seven, have four siblings, three brothers and a little sister. We love our dad (Mr Larry Otoo) very much, because he is caring and takes good care of us.
His car (Golf 3) is almost 25 years old and it gives him troubles especially when he is dropping us at school and the colour is faded. We want to, at least, modify his car.
A makeover of his car will boost his morale and image and let him love us more. Our dad is solely educating all the five of us and he is a hard working artist who we are all proud of.”
Well, that was the story that won him the award.
“Initially when they said this is a call from Joy FM I didn’t know what it was about but then I thought it had to do with my art work, I’m an artist by profession…but then they started talking about car…it hit me,” he said, laughing.
His car will receive a complete makeover courtesy Smartfix Automobile Services and Harena Auto.
The changes on the car will include a replacement of all four tyres, re-alignment and balancing and free vehicle diagnosis. The vehicle will also receive moulding works a free spraying service.
