Residents of Yamoransah in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region were on Tuesday shocked to the marrow when information reached them that a 31-year-old woman, Agnes Acquah, had drown her four-year-old son, Samuel Dadzie, in a pond.Agnes, who was arrested after the act, is in the custody of the Anomabo Police.Briefing Daily Guide yesterday, an eyewitness, John Afful, said the incident happened around 11 am when they were on their way to the cemetery to dig a grave.Afful said on reaching the place, they heard somebody shouting for help, a situation which compelled them to go to the scene to assist. He added that Agnes, who was at the scene, told them that her child had drowned and pleaded with them to rescue him.He stated that they entered the pond to rescue the boy but found him dead.Afful stated that when the boy was brought out from the pond, they realized he was foaming, a situation which aroused their suspicion and compelled them to hand Agnes over to the police who later took her to the scene. He revealed that Agnes, during interrogation said she was possessed and did not understand why she killed her son.Information gathered by Daily Guide at the scene revealed that Agnes killed her son to save her relationship with her new found lover since she had separated with the boy’s father. Some residents wept uncontrollably as irate youth nearly stoned the mother to death. The police, sensing danger, bundled her into their waiting vehicle and sent her away. The body of Dadzie has been deposited at the Central Regional Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
