A driver named Kwaku Anim was on Friday fined GHS 715.00 by a Koforidua Magistrates’ Court for causing unlawful damage.
Anim was also to sign a bond of good behavior or in default spend 12 months in prison with hard labour.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Solomon Keelson told the court, presided over by Ms Priscilla Yeboah that the complainant is the Municipal Chief Guard Commander at the New Juaben Municipal Assembly and the convict, a resident of Adweso in Koforidua.
He said on February 12 this year at about 07:30 hours, Anim parked his taxi cab with registration number GT 5340 T near the KAMA plaza in Koforidua, a no parking area.
Sergeant Keelson said the complainant upon seeing the car parked there clamped it.
Upon realizing that his car had been clamped, Anim damaged the clamp and moved his car away.
The sergeant said the complainant reported the case to the police and Anim was arrested and the taxi impounded.
He admitted the offence and was charged after investigation.
