An oil spill on a section of the Accra to Tema motorway on Tuesday evening has caused at least four vehicles to skid off the road and disrupted evening traffic.
Joy News sources say the four vehicles that skidded off the road hit bystanders causing severe injuries in a few instances.
It is not yet clear how the oil spill occurred, however, eye-witnesses say the concrete road close to the Trassaco Valley – a residential area close to the freeway – is likely to remain slippery on Wednesday morning unless road safety authorities act quickly.
“The absence streetlights on the motorway is not helping matters at all,” an eyewitness posted on his Facebook handle.
Motorists approaching that section of the freeway are being advised to drive with caution.
