Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Chairman of the John A. Kufuor Foundation, over the weekend held high level discussions in London with Mr Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft Corporation.
Mr Gates is also Co-Chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The scheduled meeting was held on the sidelines of the Nutrition for Growth event, which was addressed by former President Kufuor and Mr Bill Gates on the theme: “Beating hunger through business and science.”
The event was opened by Mr David Cameron, UK Prime Minister in the company of other Heads of State.
The closed-door meeting between ex President Kufuor and Mr Gates focused on pertinent issues affecting development in Africa including health, education, sanitation and agriculture.
The two personalities also explored areas in which the John A. Kufuor Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation might collaborate towards the objective of improving development in the world’s poorest countries.
The meeting discussed in detail current global challenges with both gentlemen sharing experiences on how these might be tackled at local, regional and international levels.
Present at the meeting were senior executives from the Gates Foundation and Professor Alex Dodoo, the acting Chief Executive of the Kufuor Foundation.
