Ghana’s economic strides have caught the eye of Alliance Motors, the company now managing the franchise of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in the country.
Nigel Clarke, Operations Director of the company on Thursday, hosted a cross-section of Ghana’s social elite including Black Star’s John Mensah and members of the diplomatic corps at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra to announce their new franchise for the two vehicles.
Joy FM’s ace entertainer, Doreen Andoh of the Metropolitan Mix was the event’s Master of Ceremony.
Mr. Clarke said the company had taken notice of the country’s infrastructure and a sophisticated middle-class and is ready to set up outlets and provide the two brands of cars to meet their taste.
The fourth generation of Jaguar and Land Rover cars is an “immaculate” car from a “design and engineering point of view”, he observed.
The Operations Director revealed it is targeting 28 percent of Ghana’s automobile market and it sees the provision of after-sales services as crucial to attaining this goal.
He urged skilled Ghanaians in automobile industry to seize the opportunity to work with the company.
The British High Commissioner, Peter Jones said Ghana-UK ties have never been stronger. Bi-lateral trade in goods and services has hit 1 billion pounds, he announced.
He welcomed plans by Alliance Motors to invest 2.75 billion pounds in the operations of the company.
According to the company, Ghana now joins countries such as South Africa, Angola, Nigeria, Kenya Mauritius and Zimbabwe to have a dealer in Janguar and Land Rover automobiles.
In an interview with Myjoyonline.com, Nigel Clarke revealed the company has plans to partner some banks to help their clients finance the purchase of the cars.
He stopped short of mentioning names but said there are talks with two banks to agree on this deal.
Alliance Motors is the market leader in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania and with a strong financial partner.
Clarke said he is confident of conquering the Ghana market.
