There is Drama brewing in the ongoing Cal Bank Beach Soccer Leagues as match day 13 saw stunning upsets and inducing varied permutations at the summit of the Championship and Division one tables.
In the Championship, league leaders Ada Assurance extended their lead to a whooping three points with a hard fought 3-2 win over Dansoman who gave them a real scare.
With Ghana Beach Soccer Defending Champions, Keta Sunset Sports drawing in their game against the seemingly doomed Nungua United, Coach Kpeglo and his charges knew what was expected of them, but Dansoman provided the necessary friction as goals from Sackey Solomon and Black Sharks midfielder Matthew Lamptey shot them into the lead.
Ada Assurance realizing their title ambition was under serious threat rallied men in the second period and were duly rewarded as Sosi Joel's brace coupled with a goal from his brother Sosi Simon sealed the memorable comeback for the Ada based team.
Relegation threatened Nungua United produced an absolute shocker as they held Keta Sunset Sports to a rather unexpected 3-3 draw. Havedji Mighty Warriors who have been outside contenders for the title all season have been drawn into the fray after they hounded into Sunset Sport’s Slip, by picking maximum points in the Volta derby against Tegbi Youth.
Though Tegbi put some brakes on the free scoring Havedji, Alfred Torsu and Freeman Nyadedzor were on target to seal an important 2-1 derby win that sees them go joint second with Sunset Sports.
Layoca’s revival in the league continued unabated, this time East Legon sharks were the victims after they lost 6-2 to Captain Nii Laryea and his men .Wuo Gb33 gave an indication of their preparedness to battle for the top four spot when they defeated the resurgent Teshie United side 3-0.
In Division one, Debutants and 3rd placed Tema United continued their fairytale with a well deserved but nervy 5-4 win over leaders ,Gulf Powers. Two goals each from Nortey Foster and Tetteh Edward and a powerful strike by Akpakpo Alfred were enough to cancel out Kwevi Richard's four goals for Powers.
Nima took full advantage of the slip by Powers to go joint top after defeating the Chorkor Blue Whales 3-0.Cape Coast Warriors continued their inconsistent season with yet another 3-3 draw with African Angels.
Winneba Giants posted a 3-0 win over the ailing failing Osu Dolphins who are rock bottom of the league.
Senya Sharks and Golden eagles failed in their attempt to record wins on match day 13 and are very much aware they are running out of games to haul themselves off the foot of the table.
