The Volta River Authority, VRA will start powering its plants with gas from Nigeria next week.
Supplies through the West African Gas Pipelines hit Ghana’s shores earlier this week, VRA officials have confirmed.
The officials have already carried out the necessary test runs to ensure that the pipes can fully transport gas to Takoradi and Tema.
The ASOGLI power plant would be the first beneficiary of the suppliers.
Power supply in the country was greatly disrupted after a portion of the pipelines was broken by a vessel.
Samuel Flecher Head of Corporate Affairs at VRA told JOYBUSINESS the gas is currently flowing through the Tema and Takoradi pipes.
“…I can confidently confirm as of yesterday about 20 bar in Takoradi and a little above that in Tema.
“They are still going through the process. It takes time to build up the pressure to the level where we can use it.
Mr. Flecher added that the resumption of gas could see the current load shedding program end very soon.
