Harsh conditions at the Castle Road Special School located inside the Accra Psychiatric Hospital are forcing authorities to turn away fresh students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The school, established 34 ago is being run on the benevolence of teachers and other individuals but the facility faces major infrastructural and financial challenges.

Under these challenges, rehabilitation drives for students do not progress.

Joy News’ Komla Adom reports that Ghana's goal of promoting inclusive education could be undermined by the situation at the facility.

The hospital’s authorities have described the situation at the facility as dire.
