A post-verdict security meeting is ongoing at the Presidency to assess the general security situation of the country.Deputy Information and Media Relations minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu told journalists at the Daily Media briefing in Accra, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, John Dramani Mahama, is chairing a National Security Council, which comprises of the heads of the various security agencies.This comes a fortnight after the country's Supreme Court ruled to re-affirm his mandate as president and winner of the 2012 presidential elections. The verdict saw one of the largest deployment of security personnel across the length and breadth of the country.No incident of violence was reported after the verdict and the Police Service has congratulated Ghanaians for keeping the peace after heightened tensions ahead of the Supreme Court ruling.This is the first security meeting after the verdict. It is expected that the Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, National Security Coordinator Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Chief of Defence Staff Vice Admiral Mathew Quarshie, Inspector General of Police Mohammed Alhassan and other security chiefs will be attending.Thursday's meeting is said to be the fifth this year.
