A 10-foot albino Burmese python coughed up two cats when approached Tuesday by police trying to contain it.

Cheryl Holmes, of Port Salerno, FL., first noticed the snake Tuesday morning across the street from her home. The unusual discovery only became more bizarre after police arrived to corral the terrifying reptile.

The snake opened its mouth as officers approached and regurgitated the dead cats.

‘I think it went into defense mode,’ Martin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Crystal Duncombe told WPBF. ‘It actually regurgitated a full-sized cat and what looked like a kitten.’

Officers say the snake spit up the partially digested cats to make a getaway.

Believed by officials to be a pet released into the wild, the initially agitated snake soon relaxed when being handled by humans.

‘It initially was a little aggressive and then, once we got a hold of it, it recognized it was being handled by humans and it became a little bit more docile,’ Deputy Willie Weiss told the station.

Ms Holmes, who called the police, couldn’t believe the giant snake was in her neighborhood.

‘You don't see this so close to home,’ neighbor Cheryl Holmes told the station. ‘This is stuff you see in the movies.’

Cops caution against releasing snakes into the wild, saying they become a problem because they eat people’s animals and cause other safety concerns.

The large reptile is now in the custody of wildlife officials, who told the station they will try to locate the owner.
