A trader who allegedly bit off his lover’s upper lip during a scuffle on Monday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Kwame Brobbey, the alleged culprit, who was charged with causing harm and threat of death pleaded guilty.
The court presided over by Miss Wilhemina Hammond, convicted him on his own plea and remanded him into prison custody for sentencing on October 16.
Meanwhile Brobbey’s lover, Vida Kyere is to undergo plastic surgery as a result of the harm she suffered.
The facts as read out by Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emelia Asante are that, Ms Kyere, the complainant, and Brobbey are lovers, staying together at Ablekumah in Accra.
DSP Asante said both the complainant and the accused person have been in a relationship for the past six months.
According to the prosecutor, in the course of the relationship, the complainant realized that Kyere was quick tempered and often threatened her with death under the least provocation.
As a result of that, the complainant decided to end the relationship but Kyere did not take it kindly.
On September 14, this year, while Ms Kyere was at Kantamanto Market plying her trade, Brobbey attacked her and bit off her upper lip.
The prosecution said the complainant sustained serious injuries and she reported the incident to the Police at Anyaa, where she was issued with a medical report for examination.
DSP Asante said on September 23, this year, Brobbey went to his lover house again and threatened to kill her with a broken bottle and a cutlass.
